What I can do

The five pillars for lesson planning, as outlined by Outwood Grange Academies Trust, include:

1. **Clarity of Learning Intentions**: Teachers clearly communicate what students are learning in the lesson and why it is important. This involves sharing and reviewing the subject's learning journeys with students【4:0†source】.

2. **Re-cap and Recall**: Regularly revisiting prior learning to ensure students remember key information from previous lessons【4:8†source】.

3. **New Information**: Clearly introducing and modeling new learning, linked to the topic question shared at the start of the lesson, with activities to develop new understanding【4:8†source】.

4. **Practice**: Creating regular opportunities for students to practice, apply, and consolidate their understanding during the lesson. This can involve answering questions, solving problems, conducting experiments, writing essays, etc.【4:8†source】.

5. **Feedback**: Providing regular, timely feedback during lessons and through written comments, focusing on students' progress, addressing misconceptions, and guiding further development. Students are encouraged to engage with feedback through dedicated Student Response Time (SRT) activities【4:8†source】.

These pillars ensure a comprehensive approach to teaching and learning, enhancing both teaching effectiveness and student self-regulation.
