What I can do

The five pillars of teaching and learning from the "Outwood Grange Academies Trust" document focus on:

1. **Clarity of Learning Intentions**: Teachers share with students what they are learning in their lesson and the reasons for it. They also review and discuss the subject learning journeys with students. This ensures that both teachers and students are aligned on the goals and objectives of the lesson.

2. **Re-cap and Recall**: Teachers regularly revisit prior learning to help students retain key information from previous lessons. This pillar emphasizes the importance of reinforcing knowledge to consolidate memory.

3. **New Information**: Teachers introduce and model new knowledge in lessons, making connections to the overall topic. This involves engaging students in a variety of activities to facilitate the development of their new understanding.

4. **Practice**: Opportunities are provided for students to practice what they have learned. This includes applying and consolidating their knowledge during lessons through various activities such as solving problems, conducting experiments, or performing practical skills.

5. **Feedback**: Teachers give timely and regular feedback, both during lessons and in written form. Feedback focuses on students' performance, addresses any misconceptions, and provides guidance on how to improve further. Students are encouraged to actively engage with feedback during dedicated Student Response Time (SRT) activities【4:0†source】.

These pillars are designed to enhance effective teaching and support students' learning and self-regulation【4:0†source】【4:8†source】.
