What I can do

The Five Pillars of Teaching and Learning approach used focuses on enhancing effective teaching and supporting students’ learning and self-regulation. These pillars are essential in creating a lesson plan and include:

1. **Clarity of Learning Intentions**: Clearly share with students what they are learning and why it is important. Subject learning journeys should be shared and reviewed with students.

2. **Re-cap and Recall**: Regularly revisit prior learning to ensure students retain key information from previous lessons.

3. **New Information**: Introduce and model new learning clearly in lessons, linked to the lesson's starting topic question. Use a variety of activities to help students develop their understanding.

4. **Practice**: Create regular opportunities for students to practice, apply, and consolidate their understanding. This may include answering exam questions, solving problems, conducting experiments, writing essays, or performing skills in practical subjects.

5. **Feedback**: Provide regular, timely feedback during lessons and through written comments. Feedback should address misconceptions, focus on students' progress, and offer clear guidance on how to improve further. Encourage students to engage with all feedback during dedicated Student Response Time activities【4:8†source】.
