What I can do

The five pillars of teaching and learning, as outlined in the document, are designed to enhance effective teaching and support students’ learning and self-regulation. These pillars are:

1. **Clarity of Learning Intentions**: Teachers clearly share with students what they are learning in their lesson and why they are learning it. This includes sharing and reviewing subject learning journeys with students【4:0†source】.

2. **Re-cap and Recall**: Regularly revisiting prior learning helps ensure that students remember key information from previous lessons【4:8†source】.

3. **New Information**: Teachers clearly introduce and model new learning in lessons, connecting it to the topic question shared with students at the start. Various activities are designed to support the development of new understanding【4:8†source】.

4. **Practice**: Opportunities are created for students to practice, apply, and consolidate their understanding during the lesson. This could include activities like solving problems, writing essays, or performing skills【4:8†source】.

5. **Feedback**: Regular, timely feedback is provided both during lessons and through written means. Feedback addresses performance, misconceptions, and offers guidance for further development. Students engage with all feedback through dedicated Student Response Time (SRT) activities【4:8†source】.

These pillars underpin effective teaching and learning, supporting students’ active engagement and self-regulation in their educational journey【4:0†source】.
