What I can do

The Five Pillars of Teaching and Learning from the Outwood Grange Academies Trust are:

1. **Clarity of Learning Intentions**: Teachers clearly communicate with students what they are learning in their lessons and the purpose behind it. Subject learning journeys are shared and reviewed with students to enhance understanding【4:0†source】.

2. **Re-cap and Recall**: Teachers regularly revisit prior learning to ensure students retain key information from previous lessons【4:8†source】.

3. **New Information**: New learning is clearly introduced and modeled in lessons. It is linked to a topic question shared with students at the start of the lesson. Various activities are created to help students develop a new understanding【4:8†source】.

4. **Practice**: Regular opportunities are provided for students to practice, apply, and consolidate their understanding. This might include answering exam questions, solving problems, conducting experiments, writing essays, or performing skills in practical subjects【4:8†source】.

5. **Feedback**: Regular, timely feedback is given both during lessons and through written comments. Feedback addresses how well students are performing, identifies misconceptions, and gives clear guidance for improvement. Students are encouraged to engage with feedback through dedicated Student Response Time (SRT) activities【4:8†source】.
