What I can do

The Five Pillars of Teaching and Learning approach used by the Outwood Grange Academies Trust includes the following elements:

1. **Clarity of Learning Intentions**: Teachers clearly articulate what students are learning and why. This includes sharing and reviewing subject learning journeys with students.

2. **Re-cap and Recall**: Teachers frequently revisit prior learning to ensure students remember key information from earlier lessons.

3. **New Information**: Teachers introduce and model new content, linked to the topic question shared at the beginning of the lesson. Various activities are designed to help students develop their new understanding.

4. **Practice**: Regular opportunities are provided for students to practice, apply, and consolidate their understanding through various activities such as solving problems, writing essays, or performing skills in practical subjects.

5. **Feedback**: Timely feedback is given during lessons and through written comments. Feedback focuses on students’ performance, addresses misconceptions, and offers guidance for improvement. Students engage with feedback in dedicated Student Response Time (SRT) activities【4:0†source】.
