What I can do

The Five Pillars of Teaching and Learning approach from Outwood Grange Academies Trust focuses on enhancing effective teaching and supporting students' learning and self-regulation. Here is a general lesson plan framework using these five pillars:

### Lesson Plan Framework

---

#### Clarity of Learning Intentions
- **Objective:** Clearly share with students what they will be learning in the lesson and why it is important.
- **Activity:** Begin the lesson by reviewing the learning objectives and the relevance to the students' learning journeys. This may include an overview or discussion about what will be covered【4:0†source】.

---

#### Re-cap and Recall
- **Objective:** Ensure students remember key information from previous lessons before introducing new content.
- **Activity:** Conduct a quick quiz or discussion to revisit previous material. Encourage students to share what they remember and connect it to today's lesson【4:8†source】.

---

#### New Information
- **Objective:** Introduce and model new learning in a clear manner.
- **Activity:** Present new content using a variety of methods such as demonstrations, videos, or group discussions. Link the new information to the learning objectives and topic questions at the start【4:8†source】.

---

#### Practice
- **Objective:** Allow students to practice and apply their new understanding.
- **Activity:** Design various activities that let students demonstrate their learning. This might include solving problems, performing tasks, or group work to encourage application of the new knowledge【4:8†source】.

---

#### Feedback
- **Objective:** Provide timely and constructive feedback.
- **Activity:** Engage with students during the lesson through formative feedback on tasks and activities. Encourage students to reflect on the feedback and suggest improvements for their work. Dedicate time for Student Response Time (SRT) activities【4:8†source】.

By centering lessons around these pillars, you can enhance clarity, engage students actively, and support their learning effectively. Incorporating collaborative structures such as peer reviews or group projects can further enrich the learning experience, fostering teamwork and communication skills.
