What I can do

Based on the "Five Pillars of Teaching and Learning" from Outwood Grange Academies Trust, here is an overview of their approach to lesson planning:

1. **Clarity of Learning Intentions**: Teachers clearly share what students are learning in the lesson and why it is important. They also review subject learning journeys with their students to provide context and understand the progression of the learning objectives【4:0†source】.

2. **Re-cap and Recall**: Teachers regularly revisit previous lessons to ensure students remember critical information. This process helps to reinforce learning and maintain continuity between lessons【4:8†source】.

3. **New Information**: Teachers introduce and explain new concepts, linking them with the topic questions shared at the start of the lesson. A variety of activities are designed to help students build their understanding of new content【4:8†source】.

4. **Practice**: Regular opportunities are given to students to apply and consolidate their knowledge and skills. This can be through activities such as answering exam questions, problem-solving, conducting experiments, or practical exercises【4:8†source】.

5. **Feedback**: Teachers provide timely and regular feedback, focusing on students’ performance, addressing misconceptions, and giving guidance for further development. Students are encouraged to engage with all feedback through dedicated Student Response Time (SRT) activities【4:8†source】.

These pillars aim to enhance effective teaching and self-regulated learning among students by incorporating clear learning intentions, revisiting prior knowledge, introducing new concepts clearly, providing practice opportunities, and offering constructive feedback.
