What I can do

Here is an overview of the Five Pillars of Teaching and Learning, which form the foundation for creating a lesson plan at Outwood Grange Academies Trust. This approach is designed to both enhance effective teaching and support students’ learning and self-regulation:

1. **Clarity of Learning Intentions**: Clearly communicate to students what they are learning in the lesson and why it is important. This includes sharing and reviewing subject learning journeys.

2. **Re-cap and Recall**: Regularly revisit prior learning to ensure students retain key information from previous lessons.

3. **New Information**: Introduce and model new learning linked to the topic question at the start of the lesson. Use a variety of activities to help students develop their understanding.

4. **Practice**: Provide regular opportunities for students to practice, apply, and consolidate their understanding during the lesson. This can include activities like answering exam questions, solving problems, performing skills, etc.

5. **Feedback**: Offer regular, timely feedback during lessons and through written comments. Feedback should focus on students' progress, address misconceptions, and provide guidance on further development【4:3†source】.
