What I can do

The Five Pillars of Teaching and Learning at Outwood Grange Academies Trust are designed to enhance effective teaching and support students' learning and self-regulation. These pillars are:

1. **Clarity of Learning Intentions**: Teachers clearly share with students what they are learning in their lesson and why they are learning it. This includes reviewing subject learning journeys with their students.

2. **Re-cap and Recall**: Teachers regularly review prior learning to ensure that students remember key information from previous lessons.

3. **New Information**: Teachers introduce and model new learning in lessons, linked to the topic question shared with students at the start of their lesson. A variety of activities are used to develop student understanding.

4. **Practice**: Teachers create opportunities for students to practice, apply, and consolidate their understanding during the lesson. This can include activities such as answering exam questions, solving problems, or performing skills in practical subjects.

5. **Feedback**: Regular, timely feedback is provided by teachers both during lessons and through written comments. Feedback focuses on students' current performance, addresses misconceptions, and provides guidance for improvement. Students are encouraged to engage with all feedback through dedicated Student Response Time (SRT) activities【4:0†source】.
