What I can do

The five pillars that underpin effective teaching and learning, as found in the document, are:

1. **Clarity of Learning Intentions**: Teachers clearly communicate what students are learning and why it is significant. This includes sharing and reviewing subject learning journeys with the students.

2. **Re-cap and Recall**: Teachers consistently revisit prior learning to ensure students remember key concepts from previous lessons.

3. **New Information**: Teachers introduce and model new learning clearly, linking it to the topic question. They use a variety of activities to facilitate students' new understanding.

4. **Practice**: Teachers provide regular opportunities for students to practice, apply, and consolidate their understanding. This can include tasks like answering exam questions, solving problems, writing essays, or performing skills in practical subjects.

5. **Feedback**: Teachers give regular, timely feedback during lessons and through written comments. Feedback is focused on students' progress, addressing misconceptions, and providing clear guidance for further development. Students are encouraged to engage with this feedback through dedicated Student Response Time (SRT) activities【4:0†source】.
