What I can do

The "Five Pillars of Teaching and Learning" approach focuses on the following elements to enhance effective teaching and support students’ learning:

1. **Clarity of Learning Intentions**: Teachers clearly share with students what they are learning in their lesson and why they are learning it. They share and review subject learning journeys with their students to ensure clarity.

2. **Re-Cap and Recall**: Regular revision of previous lessons to ensure students remember key information from prior learning.

3. **New Information**: Teachers introduce and model new learning in a way that is clearly linked to the topic question shared with students at the start of their lesson. Various activities are created to help students develop new understanding.

4. **Practice**: Regular opportunities are developed for students to practice, apply, and consolidate their understanding during lessons. This could include answering exam questions, solving problems, conducting experiments, writing essays, or performing skills in practical subjects.

5. **Feedback**: Providing regular and timely feedback during lessons and through written feedback. It focuses on assessing how students are doing, addressing misconceptions, and giving clear guidance on how to develop further. Students are encouraged to engage with all feedback through dedicated Student Response Time activities【4:0†source】.

These pillars provide a structured framework that can be used to create comprehensive lesson plans.
