What I can do

The "Five Pillars of Teaching and Learning" approach at Outwood Grange Academies Trust includes the following components【4:0†source】:

1. **Clarity of Learning Intentions**: Teachers clearly share with students what they are learning in their lesson and why they are learning it. This includes sharing and reviewing subject learning journeys with the students.

2. **Re-cap and Recall**: Teachers regularly revisit prior learning to ensure that students remember key information from previous lessons.

3. **New Information**: Teachers introduce and model new learning clearly in lessons, linked to the topic question shared with students at the start of their lesson. Various activities are devised to enable students to develop their new understanding【4:8†source】.

4. **Practice**: Regular opportunities are provided for students to practice, apply, and consolidate their understanding during the lesson. This can include answering exam questions, solving problems, carrying out experiments, writing essays, or performing a skill in a practical subject【4:13†source】.

5. **Feedback**: Teachers provide timely feedback both during lessons and through written feedback. This feedback focuses on how well students are doing, addresses misconceptions, and provides clear guidance on how to develop further. Students are encouraged to engage with this feedback in dedicated Student Response Time (SRT) activities【4:15†source】.
