What I can do

The Five Pillars of Teaching and Learning approach from Outwood Grange Academies Trust focuses on enhancing effective teaching and supporting students' learning and self-regulation. Here's how you can create a lesson plan using these pillars:

### Lesson Plan Template

#### Clarity of Learning Intentions
- **Objective**: Clearly share with students what they are learning in their lesson and why they are learning it.
- **Activities**:
- Begin the class by stating the learning objectives.
- Discuss the importance of these objectives in the context of the students' broader learning journey.

#### Re-cap and Recall
- **Objective**: Regularly go back over prior learning to ensure students remember key information from previous lessons.
- **Activities**:
- Start with a quick quiz or mind map to recall essential concepts from previous lessons.
- Use think-pair-share exercises to let students discuss what they remember.

#### New Information
- **Objective**: Clearly introduce and model new learning in the lesson linked to the topic question.
- **Activities**:
- Present new content using multimedia tools.
- Invite students to participate in demonstrations and real-world applications of the concepts.

#### Practice
- **Objective**: Allow students to practice, apply, and consolidate their understanding.
- **Activities**:
- Allocate time for hands-on activities like solving problems, writing essays, or conducting experiments relevant to the topic.
- Use role-play or simulations to deepen understanding.

#### Feedback
- **Objective**: Provide regular, timely feedback that focuses on students' progress and addresses misconceptions.
- **Activities**:
- Offer verbal feedback during class discussions and written feedback on assignments.
- Establish a Student Response Time (SRT) for students to reflect and act on the feedback received.

This structured lesson plan encourages active student participation, consistent review of past material, clear understanding of new content, and ensures learning is reinforced through practice and feedback【4:0†source】.
