What I can do

The Five Pillars of Teaching and Learning at Outwood Grange Academies Trust, which should be used in lesson planning, are as follows:

1. **Clarity of Learning Intentions**: Teachers are expected to clearly communicate what students are learning in a lesson and why it is important. This includes sharing and reviewing the subject's learning journeys with students.

2. **Re-cap and Recall**: Regular revisiting of previous learning is emphasized to ensure students remember key information from prior lessons.

3. **New Information**: Teachers introduce and model new learning in a clear manner, linking it to the topic question shared at the start of the lesson. A variety of activities are created to help students develop new understanding.

4. **Practice**: Opportunities for students to practice, apply, and consolidate their understanding during the lesson are systematically integrated. This could involve exercises such as solving problems, writing essays, performing practical skills, etc.

5. **Feedback**: Providing regular, timely feedback both during lessons and through written formats. This feedback focuses on how well students are performing, correct misconceptions, and offers clear guidance for further development. Students are encouraged to engage with feedback during dedicated Student Response Time (SRT) activities【4:0†source】.
